9/16/08:	On 9/26/08 at 7 PM we will open the Fall semester of SIAM social activities with the first game night. Food and games will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you would like to play. Also bring your friends or significant others, everyone is welcome. Please, come to Siebel Center room 4405 to join us.
9/9/08:	UIUC SIAM Student Chapter Colloquium talk by Klaus Schulten on 9/22/08 at 11AM, Siebel Center 4405. More information.
9/4/08:	New officer. Elena Caraba has been appointed to the newly formed Activities Committee.
9/4/08:	Welcome Back. This year we plan to hold the UIUC SIAM Student Chapter Colloquia, a series of talks on computational science/engineering, applied math, high-performance computing, and other topics related to SIAM. The regular meeting time of the colloquia will be Monday at 11am, although this may vary somewhat depending on speaker availability.
5/5/08:	Chapter officers elected. The officers are Nana Arizumi (Vice-President), Michael Turnley (Secretary), Evan VanderZee (Treasurer), Michael Wolf (co-President), and Dmytro Yershov (co-President).

About the Chapter

The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) student chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was created in the fall of 2006, is supported by the SIAM parent organization, and is a registered organization at UIUC.

SIAM aims to advance the application of mathematics and computational science to engineering, industry, science, and society. Locally, the chapter seeks to build a community of members interested in the intersection of mathematics, computing, engineering, and science. If attending events related to these areas or meeting other students who share similar interests appeals to you, consider joining the chapter.
